STRAIGHT ANSWERS
The things people ask.
+Does the person receiving my card need the app?
No — and that is the whole point. Your QR code, NFC tag or shared link opens an ordinary web page on any phone or laptop, iPhone or Android. They tap once to save you as a real contact, socials included. The app is only for building and carrying your own cards.
+Where do my collected contacts actually live?
On your iPhone, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key lives in your iOS Keychain and syncs through iCloud Keychain, which Apple end-to-end encrypts — Carte never receives it. Optional iCloud backups are encrypted before they leave the device.
+If it reads my calendar, what does it actually see?
Times, titles and who was invited. Never the body of a message or an event, and never anything from a calendar you have not connected. Disconnecting a source removes its events from Carte.
+If there is no tracking, how do view analytics work?
A viewed card pings one value: its own anonymous card ID. No IP address, no cookie, no device fingerprint, no location, and never the contents of the card. That single ID and a timestamp is the entire event.
