AES-256, on device
Every contact you collect is encrypted with AES-256 and stored on your phone. There is no server-side contact database — nothing to leak, mine, or sell.
The link carries the card
Shared cards travel inside the URL fragment — the part after the #, which browsers never send to any server. Your card goes phone-to-phone, not phone-to-cloud-to-phone.
Analytics without surveillance
Optional view counts use an anonymous card ID and a timestamp. No IPs, no cookies, no fingerprinting, no reading the card itself. That’s the whole event.

Do recipients need the app?
No. Your QR code, NFC tap, or shared link opens a plain web page on any phone — iPhone or Android, any browser. They see your card and save it to their contacts in one tap. The app is only needed to create and manage your own cards.
Where is my contact data stored?
On your device, encrypted with AES-256. Contacts you collect never touch Carte's servers — there is no cloud contact database to breach, sell, or subpoena. When you share a card, the data travels inside the link itself, in a fragment that browsers never transmit to any server.
Do I need to buy special NFC hardware?
No. Carte writes to standard, off-the-shelf NFC tags — the same inexpensive tags you can buy anywhere. No proprietary cards, no vendor lock-in, no per-tag subscription.

The core app is free: unlimited contact wallet, card scanner, QR and NFC sharing. Carte Pro adds multiple card personas, custom themes, view analytics, and wallet passes for $4.99/month or $39.99/year.
What happens when someone views my card?
If you opt in to analytics (a Pro feature), we count the view against your card's anonymous ID — nothing else. No IP addresses, no cookies, no location, and never the card's contents.
